Wi-Fi

Czech Wireless provides full product, installation and service solution of wireless networks based on standard 802.11b and 802.11a (Wi-Fi). We provide project design and turnkey implementation for indoor and outdoor wireless Wi-Fi networks.

According to specific usage, capacity and finance demand we propose individual optimal structure of wireless network and all the components, calculations of approximate area of coverage etc.

We provide measurement of signal transmission in a given location to achieve optimal location of access points as well as Line of Sight survey for correct and longterm functionality of wireless link connections. On basis of given requirements and results of the measurements we propose optimal solution of the wireless network Wi-Fi, including connection to existing intranet and internet networks. After the structure of the wireless network is compiled we deliver all components neccessary for the installation and correct functionality of such network. The products we supply for the build of infrastructure and the Wi-Fi end-equipment are from manufacturers such as Orinoko, Proxim, Cisco, Lucent, 3Com etc.

We also provide complete installation of all active and passive components of infrastructure such as access points, omni and directional antennas systems, steel constructions, mounting of data, power and coaxial cabels, end-user equipments, servers etc.

We perform complete configuration and setting of all parts of wireless and classical network, access points, IP servers on any platform and end-user equipment. We connect all the installed components and integrate them according to the project.

At the end we provide final measurements, system optimization and hand over of functional network to the customer including the training.

In case of interest we provide servis and upgrade of hardware and software as well as eventual changes in partial or whole system configuration.

Description of Wi-Fi system

Wi-Fi system (Wireless Fidelity) is a standard for high-frequence wireless data transfer which works in free frequency band of 2,4 or 5,3 GHz (standard IEEE 802.11b or 802.11a). Maximal theoretical transfer speed is 11 Mbps resp. 54 Mbps and depends on the distance, conditions of the signal transmission and number of other users. Average distance of the end device from access point is aproximately 500 meters in free space and about 150 meters in buildings. Using a special external antennas and components with high power output enables theoretical distance up to 7 km.

For data modulation is used FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) for speed 1, 2 or 3 Mb/s and DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum), for speed 1, 2, 5,5 and 11 Mb/s. For security reasons Wi-Fi networks use encryption, provided by protocol WEP (wired equivalent protocol) with the length of key 64 or 128 bites.

Signal is spread by so called hot spots or transmitters, represented by access points -AP, which differ according to connectivity, possibility of external antennas connection, capacity, security etc. These access points can be interconnected and cover a given area with the signal. For reception of this signal it is essential to have end-device such as notebook, PDA, Hendheld etc, equiped with wireless network card according to standard 802.11b or 802.11a.

The network can also include Universal Subscriber Gateway (USG), which differs by the number of possible current user connections which enables to identify the user by MAC address, access name and password, assign a bandwidth - prepaid or according to the contract and monitors all the data necessary for billing - time of connection, speed, transfered data bulk. This gateway enables protected and public access to the network e.g. according to the place of connection.

Wi-Fi network can be used not just for closed office networks but as well for commercial paid or unpaid traffic, above all for providing of high-speed connection to internet or intranet.
